The ROC has been a long time in the making and a long-time vision of Georgina Mayor Grossi. There have been scandals (toxic waste on-site and it needs to be cleaned up before we send our children careening down the toboggan hill? Huh, excellent!), celebrations (it’s a go! It’s a stop! It’s opening! It’s not!), outrage (it’s going to cost how much over budget?), disagreements (our taxes shouldn’t go up to pay for this while so many areas in Georgina still need sidewalks) and controversy (this is lining whose pockets?) about Georgina’s ROC (Recreational Outdoor Campus) from the beginning but the day is finally here – The ROC is really having its Grand Opening tomorrow, Friday, January the 20th.
Between 5:30am to 9:0am tomorrow morning, Breakfast Television (BT, to locals and found on CityTV) will be covering the grand opening of the ROC and anyone who attends will receive a free day pass to the ROC.
It’s a P.A. Day for public elementary schools in York Region tomorrow, so there may be a lot of parents looking for something to do with their kids. I’d like to say that I’ll be there, but I have to be real here. The only thing I’m looking to do with my kids between 5:30 and 9:00 in the morning is figure out how to keep them quiet enough to steal five more minutes of sleep or peace and quiet before the full-blown chaos of the day truly starts. So, although I’ll be up and going by 7:00am, I most likely will not be bundling up my crew of smalls (Plum has school on Friday) and heading to the ROC in subzero weather but I can’t wait to hear about it from those good parents who do love their kids enough to go and get them on television. 😉

Are you going? Did you go? How was it, I want to hear all about it 🙂
