Kristen, a.k.a. The Frugal Girl posts her weekly food waste on Fridays. She has inspired me to be more mindful to not waste food, and to use it up before it ends up inedible and fuzzy in the refrigerator. So, I’m jumping on board and joining in the Food Waste Friday fun 😉 This is my second week posting.

FoodWasteFriday
This week, I wasted another half of a potato, but this time I know it was not my fault. That same 10lb bag of potatoes that I bought a couple of weekends ago had a few more unpleasant surprises in store for me when I went to grab a bunch of them to make potato salad to go with our Family Day Rib Fest 🙁 But, on the upside, the potatoes that did make the cut were deliciously wonderful when saladed up! I also wasted the end piece of a loaf of Gluten-free rice bread. I was trying to use it to make bread crumbs for fish cake coating, but I left it in the toaster oven too long and, well, it turned into a charcoal-esque disk.

Introducing the world to the first Bre-tato. The coupling of the vindicated, self-assured (yet still doomed) potato and an insecure, over-tanned (equally doomed) slice of bread.

Overall, not too bad, but would like to get a lot better at reducing our wasteful habits and reusing as much as possible 🙂

I hope you all have a wonderful Supercalifrugalisticexpialidocious weekend!
