Am I going to post the obituary for my son’s friend, Kyle Ehinger, who took his own life, in Sutton, on May 17th, 2012.

Kyle’s family, friends and girlfriend need the support of everyone in Georgina and beyond right now.

I cannot even imagine the soul-searing anguish that Kyle’s mother is feeling right now.

My heart and thoughts go out to everyone has been touched by Kyle’s life and all of his friends and family who are missing him so very, very much now.

Declan, my love,  I promise you, it will get better.  You will never forget Kyle, you will love and remember him forever, but your emptiness and sorrow will subside with time.  I promise you, my baby, you will heal and feel whole again.   I love you, Mum.

  1. Please let Declan know that the OLL family is there for him. What I saw at the school yesterday was incredible. Hearing those kids pour their hearts out with stories of Kyle, and to see them support each other. Amazing. It is so painful to see them all hurting so much, but I also witnessed much love in the face of this tragedy. Declan, as well as all of the other students, need to know that they have our support and love. Ms. Hickey

    1. Thank you, Ms. Hickey. This is such a confusing and upsetting time for all for the kids but like you said, it’s also amazing to see them pull together and love and support each other through the pain. My heart breaks for each and every one of the friends he left behind and of course, his family.

  2. I just want to make sure people understand that Kyle didnt ‘commit suicide’. he was doing something that he thought would be a safe way of getting a high. He didn’t take his own life on purpose. Tragically I no longer have my baby brother, and my newest son~born 3 days after Kyle’s death~will never meet his wonderful uncle.

    1. Jennifer, I appreciate your comments more than I can say. For the longest time, there was no information about what happened to Kyle and people were left to speculate and guess. None of it made any sense. Kyle just didn’t fit ‘the profile’ of a kid who was at risk. The Advocate was woefully deficient and useless at informing our community and I’m still at a loss as to how they justify their lack of reporting. They ought to be ashamed and embarrassed and they ought to be held accountable for their “selective reporting practices.” Had it not been for the letter to the paper from an OLL parent a week or so ago, everyone would still be thinking it was a suicide and that they could have maybe, somehow prevented or at least seen warning signs that it was coming. There were no signs, because, as we now know, he didn’t mean for it to go so horribly, terribly wrong. Kyle’s death was tragic and has left so many people mourning his loss. From the moment Declan texted me the news my heart broke for Kyle, his parents, and his family. I continue to send my heartfelt and sincere condolences and best wishes to all of you. Your incredible strength and that of your family, throughout this nightmare has helped so many others who were a part of Kyle’s life. I wish you all peace, for your sakes and for Kyle’s.
